Ichiro is one of my all-time favorite players for many reasons. For one, he answers the question if old-time players like Tris Speaker or Ty Cobb could play the game today.
Secondly, he was the first Japanese position player to play Major League Baseball and opened the door for many others to come to the U.S. by playing at a Hall of Fame level from day one.
Thirdly, he’s like something out of a Kung Fu movie… hero small in stature and born of small means journeys overseas and wows his competitors with his unique skill-set and earns many honors… seriously, they need to make a “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Ichiro” movie ASAP.
