This was the first painting I completed in a new series of baseball portraits I am creating. Compared to my last series of baseball action paintings, this one will be much looser in brushstrokes and more vibrant in color. My artistic inspirations for this series are Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, and David Hockney.
I chose Clayton Kershaw as my first subject because my favorite team since I was a kid is the Dodgers and he is one of my favorite players. He always seems to have a sunny disposition and a big smile on his face, so the pose and color choices I made reflect his personality.
