Hitting the Reset Button on Life

This is the first blog post I’ve ever written just for the heck of it…

In the past the only time I wrote was to promote a business (either my own or a client’s). I could see the power in expressing myself, but I had quieted my artistic side so much over the last few years while chasing the “American Dream” that it became an afterthought to do so.

Giving up on a dream…

Many times I decided to give up on my dream of being a professional artist because it only caused me pain when I reflected on how far away I seemed to be from my goal. But there are some things that we are just born to do, and I couldn’t give up being an artist anymore than I could give up my blue eyes… it’s who I am. When one is born with a talent and a passion for something, it’s a travesty to not put it to use.

Don’t get me wrong, many great things have happened over the last few years… Monique and I have achieved some things that many people would love to do… bought a house in the suburbs, 2 cars, built a business, etc… but rarely did acquiring more stuff lead to more happiness.

So we hit the “Reset Button”…

We realized that life didn’t quite have the same magic it used to, so we started getting rid of all the stuff we bought… the house, the cars, the tv, the timeshare, etc. And guess what? Each time we got rid of something, the better we felt. We’re traveling light now.

It has always been Monique’s passion to travel the world and it’s always been my passion to create art, so we’ve made the decision to do what brings us joy. We’re doing the opposite of what most people in our situations would do, we’re taking huge leaps of faith… and it feels right.

I am writing this blog post from Durres, Albania (yes, they have Internet here!) and I am making it happen and making dreams come true… stay tuned, I have lots of life to live and lots of stories to tell.

Can you see my fist pumpin’? I’m so excited for you to create art again! It does feel good, doesn’t it? ;)

I’m *SO* excited for you! After seeing your art in the coffee house the first time I met you, and then watching you grow your business, I was afraid your art might take a very long back seat. Love hearing it’s up front again. And I know that’s so good for your soul. Hot doggies! (as they say in the Old Country)

      Thanks Janet,

It definitely took a backseat for a while, but I believe I took a detour for a reason… I’ve learned a lot of things about marketing and business that will only help me sell my art.

      Thanks Vernon,

It’s probably hard for many people to understand, but living here in Albania is like a dream come true… it’s shaken things up and inspired me to do some great things.
